Elden ring. It deserved every single award it did and didn't get. Game play has been polished and perfected from the Dark souls and Bloodbourne. The lore is thicker than a chocolate cake made with 98 percent dark cocoa chocolate. The difficulty is perfect, the story is satisfying, the character creation is hilarious, the bosses just showcase the variety. The stunning views just drop your jaw, and I personally love the attention to detail. The smallest cave entrance in the darkest valley could have a 10 hour story line that would make you cry, but it just depends on you finding it.
Every single aspect of a perfect game is in elden ring, but it isn't a picnic under the eiffel tower, no. You have to go into every single sewer, canal, damp building, bakery in the entire city of Paris to find them, but in that do you find the real taste. A great game for strategy, different ideas, if you think you’re clever and can cheese a boss, go for it, the dev's knew you would and later down the track they will get you. You found an opening onto the roof? You just doubled the size of the dungeon. Perfect for playing with family and friends, in a dies each style. Even though I personally don’t fancy the style of game Elden Ring is, the game was just so beautiful and nailed everything that it worked for me.
