Red Dead Redemption 2 is a sprawling adventure set in the Wild West's dying days, crafted by Rockstar Games. Players inhabit the shoes of Arthur Morgan, an outlaw navigating loyalty and survival as part of the Van der Linde gang.
From snowy peaks to bustling towns, the game world is meticulously detailed, offering players a vast, living landscape to explore. You can roam freely, engaging in diverse activities from hunting and fishing to gambling and bounty hunting.
At its core, RDR2 is about characters and story. As Arthur, players forge relationships, confront personal challenges, and grapple with moral dilemmas. The game's rich narrative and lifelike world create an immersive experience where every decision shapes your journey.
With its stunning visuals and captivating storytelling, Red Dead Redemption 2 invites players to lose themselves in the dying embers of the Wild West, where honor, loyalty, and redemption are tested in the face of a changing world.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is constantly hyped as one of the greatest games of all time, it was definitely the most hyped I've been for buying a game. Rockstar continues their streak of making simply excellent games with Red Dead 2, even 6 years later this is still ikely the best looking and most detailed game ever made. Red Dead 2 created some of the most iconic characters in video games with Arthur Morgan and Dutch.
The first thing I noticed when hopping into this game is how amazing the world looks, you can screenshot Red Dead at any time and it'll be wallpaper quality. The story is one of the greatest I've ever played, I especially enjoy how Rockstar isn't afraid to kill off important characters throughout the game which really ups the suspense of each mission. Of anything in this game I definitely had the most fun with the combat system, Red Dead uses the Euphoria ragdoll system to create satisfying and realistic reactions to being shot, blasting an NPC in the leg and watching them stumble into walls as they try to escape never gets old.
Other than robbing and murdering people in the American Frontier you can go hunting, bounty hunting, dozens of completely unique side quests, find random events and strangers, rob trains and explore the huge open world across five different states. What you can do in this game really is endless and I agree it deserves it's reputation as one of the greatest games of all time.
Now to finish off here's my list of positives and negatives:
Positives:
Massive and beautiful open world, great graphics
Unique and fun side quests
Insane tiny details
Great character development
Well written main storyline
Random events bring the game to life
Best Euphoria ragdolls yet
Negatives:
Clunky controls on PC
Annoying witness system
Slow pacing and long story
Too much time spent on horses
Can't run indoors, extremely drawn out animations
Yes, Red Dead Redemption does has it's fair share of issues especially when it coems to pacing and some players don't enjoy how long everything takes to do but if you really appreciate world design and small details this shouldn't be a problem for you. I can't recommend this game more, it should be on everyones bucket list.
